If you simply drive over the lunar surface, it will be disturbed and a new volume of dust will form, in addition to the existing dust. The dust settles on everything and slowly destroys any equipment, including spacesuits. Therefore, we need a transport that will not generate dust while travelling and protect the settler colonists inside from dust. Figuring out how to realise this is the challenge for Northrop Grumman.
