In the XVIII century, rats were brought to the archipelago together with ships. They began to breed extremely intensively, and this put pressure on local bird species. Only in recent decades have the authorities decided to make any effort to control the rats. The work is ongoing, so it is hoped that the life of the archipelago’s flora and fauna will become a little easier.
