There will be a huge “dead zone” in the Gulf of Mexico this year

The data showed that the amount of nitrates released into the river was 7% below average, but the amount of phosphorus released was 22% above average. It is these values that allow NOAA scientists to determine how large the “dead zone” in the Gulf of Mexico will be this year.
